The Thule RideAlong mini child bike seat is a popular front-mounted children bicycle carrier that is safe, elegant looking, and a winner of many awards. When biking with kids, the child bike seat is probably one of the most attractive, given the proximity and ability to protect them in case of accident. More so, the front-mounted carrier seat, as it allows parents and kids more interaction while cycling, and provides some nice bonding time.

Swedish made, the Thule RideAlong mini is designed for kids who are able to sit with their heads up while wearing a helmet (a little under 1 year old), up to 3 years old, with a maximum weight of 33 lbs (15 kg).

It is made of hard plastic encasing, with reversible, detachable padding, in elegant vibrant colors.

Installation / compatibility

It is compatible with most bikes, however, like most of the front-mounted child bike seats, it is better for city/dutch bikes, because of the riding position and leg room.

To be installed, the seat must be in the unlocked position. There’s an indicator that controls if the seat is correctly placed in the mounting bracket. When it is, you just need to lock it with the included key, thus preventing theft. This is a feature we can also find in the Yepp mini and maxi.

It has a quick-release button that makes really easy to take off the seat when it’s not needed.

Is it safe for kids?

The Thule RideAlong mini has a five point harness, foot rests with straps, and a decent back rest height, making it comfortable and safe. It has a childproof lock that needs to be undone with both hands. For those tiny escape artists out there. The padding is reversible, and washable. It can also be purchased separately as a replacement.

Also available for purchase we can find a windscreen, designed to protect your kid in the colder months.

Is it comfortable for adults to ride with?

As me mentioned earlier, this, like all of the front-mounted child bike seats, works best for city bikes. The rider there has a more straight-backed and upright riding position. However, with few adjustments, it can be used by most people.

If the seat needs to be taken out momentarily, the RideAlong mini has a quick-release option, making it still safe and comfortable for the cyclist. This is a major improvement from child bike seats like the iBert safe-T, making it a better option.
